Tyler Childers Releases Stunning Live Performance Video Of “Nose On The Grindstone” At Kroger Field

Christmas came early.

Though it won’t reflect through the sheer chart success experienced by someone like Morgan Wallen, who was recently named Billboard’s Top Artist of 2025, in many ways, 2025 was the year of Tyler Childers.

Since its release back on July 25th, Tyler Childers’ Snipe Hunter has remained one of the most controversial, albeit one of the most celebrated, country albums of the year. Despite many (myself included) touting the experimental record as yet another killer entry in Childers’ deep discography, there have been plenty of former fans of the “Feathered Indians” singer who are unhappy with the overall sound and direction he decided to take with producer, Rick Rubin.

Despite the controversy, the album has been nothing short of a success for the Kentucky native, both commercially and critically. Upon its release, Snipe Hunt debuted at #7 on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart, along with a #1 entry on their Americana/Folk Albums chart and a #2 entry on their Top Country Albums list. Back in November, he scored not one but three Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Country Album, Best Country Song (“Bitin’ List”) and Best Country Solo Performance (“Nose On The Grindstone”). Finally, the record not only topped Rolling Stone’s Best Country/Americana Albums ranking but also was named their 7th-best album of the year, all-genre.

With all of that being said, 2025 was undoubtedly one of the best years for the “Lady May” singer, both commercially and critically. And it looks like he has no plans of slowing down in 2026, with the recent announcement of his headlining tour, Snipe Hunt, featuring the likes of Evan Honer, Jon Batiste and more at some of the largest venues of his career, such as Wrigley Field in Chicago.

In the meantime, however, fans of Childers are still eatin’ big time (pun intended). Not only did the 34-year-old singer/songwriter release a live version of the viral “Bitin’ List” last week from his iconic pop-up show and Dino World during the summer to all streaming platforms, today, he also released a performance video on his YouTube channel of the Grammy-nominated “Nose On The Grindstone” live from Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky.

As we all know, “Nose On The Grindstone’s” appearance on Snipe Hunter marked the first time the song received studio treatment after being available on streaming only on Childers’ 2017 OurVinyl Sessions EP acoustically. Like anything surrounding the release of Snipe Hunter, it was met with some mixed reviews. Though many (myself included) thought it was a career-best vocal performance from the Appalachian superstar, refining his patented rasp beautifully, others argued it was much too polished and sanitized due to the lyric change (“messed up his back” instead of “f***** up his back”).

Regardless of your thoughts on the new version, I think it’s safe to say that this live video from Kroger Field is nothing short of a stunner. Beyond the fact that Childers himself sounds just as good as ever here, complete with only his guitar, an additional acoustic guitar and a fiddle, the direction from Vincent Adam Paul, a long-time live concert video director, is off the charts.

Capturing a wide array of close, wide and drone shots, all shot in black and white, the video itself does a beautiful job transporting you directly into that night in Lexington. And, of course, the decision to shoot in black and white was brilliant, capturing the gritty nature of the song.

Needless to say, the video is a must-watch, and you can check it out below.
