Garth Brooks Shares A Video Celebrating The 40th Anniversary Of ‘Farm Aid’ But People In The Comments Could Only Focus On His Beard

Cool stuff, Garth.
Farm Aid just celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2025, after holding their first benefit concert back on September 22, 1985 as a way to help American farmers.
The idea came from comments Bob Dylan made during his performance that year at Live Aid, a festival organized to help raise money for those facing famine in Ethiopia. Dylan remarked that he hoped some of the money raised from the show could be used to help farmers in his own country who are struggling, and though he received backlash for the comments, they inspired Willie Nelson and Neil Young to organize Farm Aid.
The first concert featured, Dylan along with names like Tom Petty, Billy Joel and Loretta Lynn, and raised over $9 million. And since then, the event has been held nearly every year and raised to raise millions of dollars to help family farmers while working year round to help promote and protect farms in America.
This year, Farm Aid celebrated the 40th anniversary of their first concert, and this past weekend they shared a video from one of the many artists who’s played Farm Aid over the years: Garth Brooks.
Garth performed at Farm Aid way back in 1990, during a show in Indianapolis that featured Elton John, John Mellencamp, Arlo Guthrie, John Denver, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, and many more. And Garth shared the importance of performing at an event for such a good cause:
“Very lucky to get to be involved and be invited. It was one of the coolest times in my life… What a great cause. People, when you support and you help the backbone of your country, it only makes all of us stronger. Here’s to the farmers, here’s to all the players that have tried to help in this cause, here’s to Farm Aid for 40 years. How about, here’s to Farm Aid for 40 more.”
Great stuff, G. I’m sure the comments loved it and were all supportive, right?
Just kidding, you know that’s not the case on pretty much anything Garth posts. In fact, he turns the comments off on his own social media posts, but unfortunately Farm Aid didn’t get the memo. They left comments on, and not only were forced to deal with the usual “where are the bodies” comments, but also plenty of questions about…Garth’s beard:
“Is that a spray beard?”
“Garth my man you need a new barber….. One that knows how to line you up properly…”
“He used that hair in a can that Ron Popeil pitched years ago.”
“I thought that was an AI Garth at first…it’s not…it’s the real Chris Gaines with an AI beard…”
“Kids that’s why we don’t play with spray paint”
“90% of the beard is penciled in here Garth?!?”
“Garth Brooks with an AI beard”
“Why did he airbrush his beard?”
“Lay off the permanent marker”
“That Just For Men got a choke hold on em!”
“Does he think we can’t tell that the beard is spray painted?”
“Last beard you see before the trunk closes… where’s the bodies Garth?”
“Keep featherin’ that beard brother”
The video has over 1,200 comments right now, and the vast, vast majority of them are questions about Garth’s beard. But hey, that’s how you get a post to go viral, and now here we are talking about Farm Aid.
Maybe that was the plan all along. The post Garth Brooks Shares A Video Celebrating The 40th Anniversary Of ‘Farm Aid’ But People In The Comments Could Only Focus On His Beard first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
