Calvin Harris Confirms Miley Cyrus Collaboration Will Never Be Released

Over a year after first teasing a collaboration with Miley Cyrus, Calvin Harris has revealed that Jessie Reyez will instead provide vocals for the long-awaited track, tentatively titled “Ocean.”

Harris shared a new snippet of the song on TikTok this week, prompting immediate confusion among fans who had been eagerly anticipating the Cyrus version since May 2024. His initial caption, “Yes I love it #newmusic #ocean,” made no mention of the Grammy-winning pop star’s absence.

As the post’s comment section filled with questions about the switch, some fans speculated about potential conflicts between Cyrus and the chart-topping dance music producer. However, he swiftly moved to dispel those rumors.

“I love Miley,” Harris wrote in response to one concerned fan, adding that the singer has “an amazing voice.” When pressed about the circumstances behind the change, he acknowledged: “It was my bad … crossed wires.”

Harris emphasized that there’s no animosity between him and Cyrus. “Absolutely not!!” he replied when asked directly about any issues between the artists. He went on to reveal that Reyez, a decorated singer in her own right, had actually been involved with the project from the beginning after writing the track’s lyrics.

For those hoping to eventually hear Cyrus’ version, Harris delivered disappointing news: “I’m afraid not.”
