Mayhem Drop “Despair” Because Hope Was Overrated Anyway
Black metal titans Mayhem are back again with “Despair,” a new track from their forthcoming album Liturgy Of Death. Set to be released on February 6, it’s described as the sonic form of “the collapse of being through ritualistic chants, Latin invocations, and blistering blast beats that echo like the pulse of annihilation.”
After listening to the track, it’s hard to argue with what they’ve said about it. It’s fury, it’s an aural representation of nadir of our collective suffering, it’s relentless. It’s, as the band describes, the moment when “Despair” represents “the album’s stark revelation — the moment where death is not feared but understood.”
Liturgy Of Death will be released on February 6, but you can preorder your copy today.
