Victim of RÜFÜS DU SOL Concert Assault Claims She’s Identified Attacker

Shelby Elston, the victim of a violent assault at RÜFÜS DU SOL’s recent Rose Bowl concert, has reportedly identified her assailant after the man fled into the crowd.

EDM.com reported this week that Elston said the altercation started after her companion accidentally spilled a drink on the man, which prompted him to attack and repeatedly punch her, ultimately knocking her unconscious and putting her in the care of the stadium’s medical staff. She later uploaded a video of the incident to Facebook and asked the public for help identifying her assailant.

The clip went viral, leading RÜFÜS DU SOL to release a statement condemning the man’s actions and confirming a police investigation was underway. “We have been heart broken to hear of the act of violence that took place during the opening act on Saturday,” the band said. “”This type of behavior is completely unacceptable anywhere and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to learn about.”

Elston has now shared an update on social media, saying she was contacted by many people who claim to know the man’s identity.

“It’s been a hectic two days but after going through my emails and messages, I believe this person is absolutely Cesar Zavala,” Elston wrote. “The people who knew him personally said they are not surprised he was involved in an incident like this due to him being an aggressive and unhinged individual.”

Several people on Reddit remarked that the man’s Instagram profile was deactivated in the wake of Elston’s Facebook video. Whether or not law enforcement has named Zavala a person of interest remains unclear at this time, though Elston said she plans to move ahead with legal action.

“I have been given all of his personal information (including his place of employment) charges will absolutely be filed and a civil lawsuit as well,” she continued. “I’m going to make this man PAY for what he did to me and my friends. Thank you to everyone for who reached out to me!”
