‘Landman’ Takes Aim At ‘The View’ In Latest Episode, & Fans Are Loving It

ABC’s daytime talk show The View is in the news cycle again… but this time, not for anything they’ve said. Of course, the daytime show is known for presenting news from elsewhere, and then the panel of hosts gives their less than intelligent views on it; hence, it’s called The View.

The show is hosted by a panel of rotating women who currently consist of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, and clips from the show often go viral not for their astute political analysis but because of how out of pocket and downright stupid their liberal political takes can be. While it seems they mostly make headlines for their political statements these days, the show also covers current events and pop culture. But as we mentioned… politics is where The View hosts often get themselves in trouble online. In fact, hosts have regularly had to issue corrections in the past few years, especially regarding false comments made about Donald Trump.

Landman Torches ‘The View’

During the latest episode of Landman, the Taylor Sheridan-scripted show took aim at the talk show during a scene with Tommy and T.L. Per usual, if you don’t want anything spoiled for you, I’d recommend you stop reading here, but given it was a slow burn of an episode, no big plot lines will be spoiled in all honesty.

Season 2, Episode 5 of Landman, titled “The Pirate Dinner,” is making waves on social media after fans clocked a backhanded comment about The View during a phone conversation between Tommy and T.L. If you recall, at the end of episode 4, the Norris family decided it was best that Tommy’s father moves from the Texas Panhandle to Midland to be closer to family. And while some might have thought they’d move him to a nursing home in Midland, similar to the assisted living facility he was living in previously, Angela has made it very clear that family lives in the home, and he will be residing in the already filled-to-the-brim Midland house.

As T.L. is settling into his new digs, he’s also not sure how he should occupy his time in this new city. T.L. calls his son seeking advice on how he should spend his day, and Tommy’s answer takes a hilarious jab at the headline-making talk show. Tommy suggests that his father watch The View, to which T.L. inquires what that is. Tommy replies:

“A bunch of pissed off millionaires b****** about how much they hate millionaires and Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their a** about. It’s pretty funny.”

T.L. responds to that synopsis, noting that it doesn’t sound like a very funny talk show. To which Tommy adds:

“Well, it ain’t joke funny. It’s like ‘Fart in church’ funny, you know what I mean?”

When T.L. again remarks that the show does not sound funny to watch, Tommy encourages his father to change his perspective:

“Well, it depends on your proximity to the fart.”

HA. That pretty much sums it up in real life… if you’re not hate-watching it, I can’t imagine why you would be.

You love seeing a fictionalized show throw in real-life references that hit the nail on the head. Ironically, Billy Bob Thornton appeared on The View in 2024 to promote the hit TV series… save to say he might not be getting invited back after those statements. But hey, that was Tommy Norris talking, not Billy Bob Thornton.

And honestly, given the actual content of The View, this scene was pretty tame. Tommy Norris could’ve gone WAY harder.

This scene was a crowd-pleaser among fans. Check out some of the responses:
