Conservative Media Personality Charlie Kirk Has Died After Being Shot During Utah Valley University Event

Absolutely terrible.

Conservative activist and media personality Charlie Kirk has passed away at the age of 31 after being shot during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University this afternoon.

His death was confirmed by President Donald Trump in a post on Truth Social:

Kirk, whose full name was Charles James Kirk, was an American right-wing political activist, author, and media personality. He was famously known for being a founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses.

The popular political pundit was famous for traveling around to various college campuses, speaking to students on political topics. Given his outward right-wing views, his events often attracted many left-wing attendees anxious to debate or argue, and he was often the subject of protests and criticism from the left.

Today, September 10th, Kirk hosted an event at Utah Valley University courtyard as part of The American Comeback Tour, which was hosted by the TPUSA chapter at Utah Valley. During the event, Kirk was sitting under a tent with a massive crowd gathered around him as he spoke to the students. During the event, video footage on X shows that a singular shot was fired at Kirk, reportedly while speaking on transgender violence.

In the video, you can see his body immediately fall, and a close up angle which is hard to watch shows just how brutal the shot was.

Immediately after the shooting, many government officials including President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Utah Senator Mike Lee and even California governor Gavin Newsom took to social media urging prayers for Kirk. But unfortunately, his injuries ultimately proved to be unsurvivable.

Kirk leaves behind a wife, Erika, and two children, a 3-year old daughter and a 1-year old son.

While the school originally announced that a suspect was in custody, police later confirmed that he was NOT the shooter and that the suspect was still at large.

Just absolutely senseless political violence that should be condemned by everybody in America, regardless of which side of the aisle you’re on. A wife is without her husband, and two kids are now going to grow up without a father because a maniac disagreed with his politics.
